I booked this hotel as a gift for my mum on her first visit to Japan and it exceeded all of our expectations. On arrival at Kawaguchiko station, I called the hotel to arrange the shuttle pick up and they arrived within about 5 minutes. The staff were all very friendly and attentive and spoke great English which I was worried about navigating. The staff showed us to our rooms and explained all of the amenities and facilities, including the arrangements for breakfast and dinner so that they could have everything ready for us at a time we chose. The meals here were incredible! The ingredients were very high quality and everything was prepared with a lot of care and close attention. The dinner and breakfast staff explained each dish as it was brought out which gave the experience a Michelin star feel to it which we really enjoyed. The food was absolutely delicious and better than most restaurants I've eaten at before! The hotel also has an onsen on the top floor which is reserved for guests only. There are small towels provided in the guest rooms for the onsen which of course are gender segregated for privacy and are very relaxing and peaceful to enjoy. The room we stayed in was a traditional Japanese style tatami room with futon mattresses which were very modern and comfortable. The rooms were spacious and equipped with toiletries, green tea and a tea set with some wagashi sweets, and yukata for guests to wear. The best thing was the breathtaking view of Lake Kawaguchi and Mt Fuji off to the left-hand side which was absolutely stunning at sunrise. Overall, our stay at Hotel Asafuji was beyond anything we could have expected or hoped for. We felt incredibly well looked after by the staff and our stay was perfect.

I rarely wrote reviews online (and never on booking.com), but this one is so awesome that I felt compelling to write my review! - The hotel picked me up twice: once for luggage (when I just arrived kawaguchiko station) and once for myself (in the late afternoon after I toured around). Each time the pick up was so quick and nice! Love it. - As I arrived at the hotel, the staff literally came out the building to welcome me -- I never had such VIP experience and immediately blown away - And then a staff walked me all the way to the room, and gave me a room tour - The dinner was also great: in particular, the staff were very caring and paying attention to the pace of eating. I was a solo traveler and usually I ate fast, so I became the fastest eater in the hall which concerned the staff (sorry:) but I explained that all things good:) - The breakfast was even better: I usually didn't have much expectation for breakfast from hotel, but this one certainly above my expectation - The hotel gave a free ride to kawaguchiko station as I checked out. The staff again literally came out the build to farewell. Thanks to every staff in the hotel for your service, it's amazing!

The staff was very helpful and accommodating. We were in communication as our stay approached to align on arrival time so that the shuttle would know when to pick us up from the station. Do to our own failures, we arrived later than expected but after contacting them, there arrived shortly after to take us to the hotel. The full traditional dinner experience was more than we were expecting. A lot of delicious and interesting items. The onsen experience was very relaxing for those interested in it. The view from the onsen room was very pleasant overlooking the lake. We were lucky enough to visit during the time when there is a fireworks show over the lake which was a very pleasant surprise. The breakfast was also a whole eating experience which was pleasant. When we were having issues attempting to book transportation from Fuji the employees helped us arrange transportation.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Asafuji. I booked this for our honeymoon, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. - I loved how convenient the location was- just a short walk from the ropeway - Amazing, traditional meals for dinner and breakfast with a variety of small dishes to try - Free shuttle from the train station - Great women’s onsen with a stunning view of mount fuji - Traditional roykan experience that we were so glad we got to experience after staying at typical APA hotels - Incredible couples massage that was done in our room and relived all of the tensions from days of travelling across Japan - Beautiful view of Mt Fiji and the lake from our bedroom Overall, would highly recommend this if you’re looking for a hospitable, traditional experience in Mt Fiji

The breakfast and dinner courses definitely were a standout. Experiencing a different food culture was very interesting. It was a challenge for all of us and pushed us out of our comfort zone for sure, but I wouldn’t have changed anything. The view of Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchiko was phenomenal! As soon as we walked into the room, our jaws dropped. It was so surreal and beautiful. Unfortunately the weather was quite the opposite the next day (rainy and foggy) so we couldn’t see Mt. Fuji but the lake was still so beautiful. It was great that there was public baths onsite, but unfortunately we did not have the time to take advantage.
